The Hoop and the Tree, a compass for finding a deeper relationship with all of life. Our dance retreat will explore this vision of wholeness seen across cultures for millennia. The Hoop represents our interpersonal ring and the Tree our individual's soul growth that centers the hoop of all my relations. This glyph will be echoed throughout the workshop as we use the Dances of Universal Peace to embody a deepened experience of self and others, or I and Thou. All dances are taught and no partners are necessary.
Rev. Timothy Dobson founded and served as head minister of SpiritKeepers Interfaith Fellowship for 20 years in Boulder, Colorado where circle dance was a weekly practice of the congregation. His degree from Naropa University focused on the healing properties of sacred dance, drawing on his interdisciplinary studies in Eurythmy, Comparative Religions, Meditation and Transpersonal Psychology. He has also served as minister and dance master at All Seasons Chalice Church/ TheStarhouse.org for the past 30 years. As workshop presenter and dance retreat faculty member, he has traveled nationally and internationally. In recent years he has taught the dances in a Waldorf affiliated charter school in Denver to grades 1-8. Timothy brings his well tuned musicianship, humor and ease of instruction to all of the circles he serves.
He is also an ordained Cherag in the Sufi Ruhaniat and enjoys offering the Universal Worship Service periodically.
